Learn how to sew.

THE OVERVIEW

My ultimate aim to get us all into crafting, making, knitting and sewing.

Understanding how a garment is made and the time and resources that takes will, in my mind, be the biggest shift in moving away from the fast fashion cycle we’re currently in. Less fast fashion = less landfill = happy Earth.

I therefore offer a range of courses, workshops and drop-in sessions for a variety of skill sets. I teach complete beginners who have never sewn a stitch to more advanced techniques like bag making and using patterns.

I have my current classes listed, however, I’m always open to what you’d like to learn.

If you’d like to use my services for a specific project (friend’s getaway or workplace fun day etc.) then I’d be happy to discuss this with you. I can also provide ideas depending on the skill levels of the group.

If you prefer to not be a group setting then I’d also happily discuss 1:1 (or 2:1) tuition.

Get Started with Bag Making Workshop
£45.00

My bags always fit me! Sometimes dressmaking can get frustrating with all the bust measurements and tweaking. I get it! Bag making is glorious because generally you can sew it exactly as the pattern states - bliss!

The headaches, however, come from the steep learning curve that is the supplies! Bags need hardware. Interfacing is not the same as stabiliser and zips that aren’t attached to the zipper tape! It’s a lot - I know!

With this workshop we’ll start with an easy project. The reason being that you’ll get to learn all the terminology and techniques without the added stress of sewing tricky seams.

I’ll show you how to put on zipper pulls, what interfacing to use, which stabilisers are used and for what. Together we’ll get to the share in the nervous excitement of “birthing” your first bag!

Location: Sam Dale & Son, Holmes Chapel, Cheshire.

Date: Tuesday 4th August 2026

Times: 17:00 - 21:00 (4 hours)

Price: £45 per person per workshop

Adults only - maximum 4.

Materials provided to make a lined zippered make-up bag.

What is bring: enthusiasm and a domestic sewing machine and maybe a notebook for jotting down useful tips and tricks.

NOTE: this workshop is not suitable for complete beginners. You need to be familiar with sewing machines with an interest in expanding your skillset into bag making.

Sewing Clothes 4-week Course July/August
£85.00

My passion is sewing and my hope is that you build your confidence with me to a point where you can see something, get a pattern for it and get it sewn. Over time your sewing skills will improve but that's with practice. The goal is to get you started!

We'll basically omit the first few failed attempts because I'll be there to show you how to do it and the pitfalls to avoid - because I've done them!

I don't believe in making something cute just the once, calling it a day and never letting your sewing machine see another project.

That's why with me everything we sew will be to teach a new skill. Sometimes we won't even need our machines because cutting patterns etc is very much a part of sewing but no machines necessary!

If you're someone who has always wanted to sew your own clothes...but feel intimidated or have had a failed attempt or two...then this is the course for you :)

Location: Sam Dale & Son, Holmes Chapel, Cheshire.

Dates: Tuesday 14th & 28th July, 11th & 25th August 2026.

Times: 18:30-20:30 (2 hours)

Price: £85 per person per course

Adults only - maximum 4.

Materials provided.

What is bring: enthusiasm and a domestic sewing machine (needs to be able to do straight stitches and zig-zag stitches - feel free to ask if you’re not sure) and maybe a notebook for jotting down useful tips and tricks.
